Once awarded the PEP scholarship is there a risk that it could be withdrawn because more students from a lower tier applied after you were awarded?
Question: are tactile learning manipulatives/materials considered under the curriculum “bullet”? Specifically for Montessori curriculum materials that are not sold with a particular curriculum, since Montessori is primarily a method of instruction. Mirustoys.com has an extensive collection of Montessori and Waldorf materials. These are used to teach the Montessori method of instruction but are not part of a packaged curriculum. The $400 spending cap for learning materials (includes puzzles, legos and dress up ) is too low to account for learning manipulatives that are directly related to curriculum/instruction. Montessori materials span 3-9 years of use, so I have some materials already, but not others (because they are not cheap). Thanks!
1. I bought the Abeka Academy curriculum for my children for this new year 2023-2024 from June because it could have a discount for early purchase, only that it is paid by installments during the school year. Will I be able to get a refund for my second grade son and tenth grade daughter if we have funds available in the scholarship?
2. My son is with an umbrella school called Royal Hollow Academy. Can I keep it there?
3. My daughter is registered as a homeschooler in the education department, but the PEP scholarship has not yet approved resources available for any of my children, how can I know if we will receive the PEP scholarship funds and if I should keep her registered as a homeschooler until it is approved?
I heard Brenda speak at the FPEA conference. Her recommendation was to apply to AAA and SUFS both and see where you get accepted first. Does she still believe this to be true? I have heard conflicting answers ("DOE will cancel applications from both SFO if there's a conflict"). I would like to hear your recent experience with this. Thank you!
