Hello my daughter is currently funded with AAA for FES-UA. I would like to transfer her to Step Up for Students. How do I do this without losing the scholarship?
I asked Step Up how to switch and they said I had to contact AAA and ask to be switched. When I did that AAA gave me very little information and only said I would have to forefeit the scholarship.
Thank you. So when AAA tells me I need to forfeit the scholarship do I allow that and say ok. And yes just to confirm, This is for FESUA only.
Hi, Tiffany. I asked about this directly to one of our contacts at Step Up yesterday. I want to be very specific with my explanation here because you are NOT the only parent who has asked this, but there is a different answer depending on whether you're on an FES scholarship (like you are with UA) or an FTC scholarship (like PEP). So in case others read this, I want to make it clear that my answer here is specifically in regard to FES-UA: For FES scholarships, you can change SFOs mid-year. The process will have to be initiated through your current SFO (so for you, through AAA). You just need to inform them that you want to switch SFOs, then they are supposed to reach out to the other SFO (Step Up) to coordinate the transfer. This move is supposed to happen internally between the two SFOs so that you don't lose your funding in the process. For PEP, unfortunately, because it's an FTC scholarship, it is handled differently and changing SFOs mid-year is not possible. Parents with PEP would have to wait until the next application year to switch organizations.
