A VALUABLE TOOL FOR HOME EDUCATORS IN FLORIDA

If you have not discovered this website, you will be amazed at the tools available to you.  The Florida Department of Education designed this web site to provide high school academic advising to public students and their parents. Although, this website has been available to public school students for about 6 years, FACTS.org has been reluctant to make this incredible resource available to home educated students since they would not be able to have the full benefit.

HEF has been trying to get FACTS.org give home educators a log in number for the site for several years because we believed the information and links on the site would bring together a multitude of valuable resources.  Finally this summer, HEF convinced FACTS.org that the information was too valuable not to provide home educators access to the website.  FACTS.org has created an online tutorial to guide home educated students and their parents in the use of this fabulous website. While your child will not get an “official” transcript sent to a Florida college, like public school students, you can build your child’s unofficial transcript online in the form that colleges are accustomed to receiving.   You can get all of the "FACTS" you need for middle school and high school to prepare your child for a college or a career.  There is even a free career assessment called CHOICES available to students.

Once logged in families will be able to keep their high school records and build transcripts online in their own private file.   You will find the latest information on high school credits, scholarships, college requirements and applications, careers, testing and much more.  You can find a list of the specific courses from FLVS and the dual enrollment equivalency list which count for the Medallion Bright Futures Scholarship if your child is documenting the required courses for a 970 SAT or 20 ACT score.

This site has almost all you need to know to prepare your child for college.

Go to: www.facts.org then click on Counselors & Educators > Online Training Modules > FACTS.org for Home Education Students.  There you will find the tutorial for home educators on how to use FACTS.org.
